Just as writing is another way of speaking, reading is another way of listening. However, speaking and listening are what might be called primary liberal arts. We speak and listen before we write and read. Listening to Great Books is a fine way to experience them.
Virtually all of the texts we discuss in our Great Books Program are available for free in audiobook form. They are also available from sources that charge a fee. The sources that charge a fee feature audiobooks that are more consistently of high quality.
